CHARACTERISTICS: NORSEMAN hydraulic wheel motors are radial piston type motors with a rotating housing carried on a stationary cylinder block by two heavy ball and roller bearings. Pistons operate in radial bores in the cylinder block which also contains the oil inlet and outlet ports. Two identical cam rings are located in the rotating housing. The force developed by the pistons is transmitted to the cam rings by two cam roller bearings per piston. The distributor valve installed in the cylinder block directs high pressure oil to the pistons during their work stroke and collects the low pressure oil during their return stroke. The motors are designed for heavy duty mobile applications. Operating pressure is up to 5,000psi. Life expectancy under normal operating conditions is 15,000/25,000 operating hours. A unique internal sealing arrangement reduces case leakage resulting in higher volumetric efficiency. Full torque is available at any speed including start-up. The special cam profile provides a constant displacement leading to a theoretically constant, ripple free output torque. The motor has a compact package resulting in a high torque to weight ratio.
APPLICATIONS: NORSEMAN hydraulic wheel motor applications are many and varied. Applications include heavy load carriers with as many as 124 wheel motors, fork lifts, agricultural vehicles, mining equipment, conveyors, locomotives, grain transporters, forestry equipment, feller-bunchers, tree planters-thinners, scoop loaders, mobile cranes, deck and harbor cranes, trenchers, road sweepers, planers and rollers, straddle carriers, underwater machines, special purpose machinery, military vehicles, ammunition handlers and loaders, towed array systems for submarines.
